Welcome to Barcelona!
Welcome to EURELECTRIC’s Annual Convention and Conference

As CEO of Endesa and President of the European electricity industry association, EURELECTRIC, I take great pride in welcoming this elite gathering of electricity industry executives to the magnificent city of Barcelona.

The EURELECTRIC Annual Convention and Conference is an excellent opportunity to network with the industry’s top executives and discuss and debate the challenges and concerns facing the sector, particularly in the light of the European Commission’s third package of energy liberalisation proposals, its “green” package of proposals, the climate policy debates post-2012, the specific role of renewable energy, supply security issues and investment choices.

  • How to make energy markets work for all Europeans?
  • How to meet the ambitions and expectations of customers and investors?
  • How to electrify Europe’s future in an energy-efficient manner?
  • How can ambitious EU targets for CO2 and renewable energy promote a secure energy mix?
  • How will climate change drive energy investment?

These are some of the major questions that this year’s conference will seek to address.

At the Executive Forum Session, an outstanding CEO panel will debate the ambitious "20-20-20" EU targets for 2020 and offer valuable insights into how they can be reconciled with the ambitions for a single European energy market and with the primordial need for an energy-secure society.

Electronic voting will be conducted at each conference session, giving participants the chance to have their say in the debates.

Added attractions include the presentation - for the first time - of the EURELECTRIC Award to a company or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the electricity industry.

A parallel exhibition demonstrating energy-efficient electrotechnologies and processes is also planned, aiming to spotlight the industry’s "electrifying future".

I invite you to join me in Barcelona for a stimulating and enjoyable two days of debate and discussion.
