In closing the workshop, EURELECTRIC President Lars G. Josefsson underlined the evident sense of urgency coming from all speakers to take proper action towards carbon-neutrality in all these areas. “The EURELECTRIC Role of Electricity project has turned decarbonisation into an obligation,” he remarked. Mr Josefsson reiterated his belief in the basic role of the market in enabling the necessary changes but stressed that it “must be designed appropriately if it is to deliver the desired goals, as a market will not deliver what it is not designed for. Therefore, “political leadership is needed and that is the real challenge,” concluded the EURELECTRIC President.
