The 2003 energy "liberalisation package" has set the scene for full opening up of markets and cross-border trade in electricity and gas. However, creating a common electricity and gas market is a complex process that will take more than Directives and Regulations to become reality.

EURELECTRIC's Annual Conference 2004 will bring together top executives from the industry, interlocutors from political, legislative and academic circles, plus financial and business stakeholders, to focus on the remaining challenges for a truly pan-European energy market.

Asking the question "Where Do We Go from Here ?", speakers will examine key post-liberalisation issues and explore the case for more consistent regulatory models, coherent public service obligations, balanced environment and taxation policies, and vital incentives for infrastructure investments.

The Convention will start with a high-level “Executive Forum” focusing on “Company and Industry Structure – the Challenges Ahead”. Open for attendance by all conference participants, this half-day, strategic workshop will address the developing structure of our industry, including issues such as unbundling, robustness of our industry, staying power, mergers, the equilibrium between competition and economies of scale.

Join us in France's gastronomic capital, Lyon, on 14-15 June!
