The information gathered by the EURELECTRIC Network of Experts for Finance & Economics on some financial variables show the Top Thirty European Power Companies for the year 2001.
Companies are classified according five financial indicators:
Turnover as market sales or services provided
Operating Cash Flow equal to earnings before interests, taxes , depreciation and amortization
Net Income indicating earnings after taxes
Invested Capital defined as net intangible and tangible fixed assets + current assets – short term liabilities 9except short term financial liabilities)
Enterprise Value financial debt +equity
The companies that exchange the first three top positions according the different indicators are the EON group, EDF, RWE group, ENEL.
The picture that is possible to draw from this survey confirms the EON group being in the top three power companies in all the five indicators. EDF being in the top three companies for four indicators out of five (it is in the seventh position only in terms of Net Income).
RWE group is among the best three performing companies in terms of turnover, net income, invested capital. ENEL is in the top three companies in terms of operating cash flow, net income and enterprise value.
