Electricity for Sustainable Development: progress and challenges in meeting the 2050 goals

Committee of the Regions

In the frame of the European Sustainable Energy Week, taking place from 18th to 22nd June 2012 in Brussels, EURELECTRIC organised a conference on "Electricity for Sustainable Development: progress and challenges in meeting the 2050 goals".

EURELECTRIC's event addressed the wider investment challenge on the way to achieving a low-carbon future by 2050, through discussions around a new Power Choices modelling exercise. Secondly, the event gave insights into the role of electricity as a major driver in promoting sustainable energy, with the official launch of the 5th EURELECTRIC Environmental and Sustainable report. Case studies were presented for each of the economic, environmental and social sustainability pillars.

The event took place on Tuesday 19th June, from 9:00 to 13:00 in the Committee of the Regions (101 rue Belliard, 1040 Bruxelles).
