Power Statistics and Trends 2012

EURELECTRIC Meeting Centre (6th floor)

How will electricity demand develop in the years to come? Which power generation technologies are growing the fastest? Will Europe have enough capacity to keep the lights on?

Reliable data are the basis for sensible policymaking. As European policymakers start focusing on the required energy policy framework beyond 2020, sound figures matter more than ever.

EURELECTRIC's annual Power Statistics and Trends report gathers the latest available data from the electricity sector, as well as best engineering estimates for 2020 and 2030 from the EU-27, Switzerland, Norway and Turkey, as well as from Energy Community countries Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia and Ukraine.

Join us at the European Parliament for an overview of the latest trends in the electricity sector and a discussion of the implications with Member of the European Parliament Romana Jordan (EPP) and IEA representative Marco Baroni.

A similar lunch debate was organised a few weeks before on 10 December 2012: the synopsis of EURELECTRIC's Power Statistics 2012 Edition conveys key messages about the electricity industry for the current period.

EURELECTRIC presented, on December 10th, the identified macro trends including demand, supply, technology development, emissions, as well as the development of the regulatory framework.
