Vice-President of the Union of the Electricity Industry-EURELECTRIC in November
2002, Rafael Miranda Robredo is Chief Executive Officer of the Endesa Group, Spain's
leading electricity utility. In addition, Mr Miranda is Chairman of Endesa International,
Vice-Chairman of Enersis, a Member of the Board of UNESA, the Spanish electricity
industry association, and Vice-Chairman of the Spanish Committee of the World
Energy Council. He also sits on various advisory committees including the Spanish
and International Boards of leading European business school INSEAD. Born in Burgos
in 1949, Rafael Miranda Robredo graduated with a Degree in Industrial Engineering
from Comillas University and also holds a Masters Degree in Management Science
from industrial organisation institute EOI. His first post was with electrical
batteries manufacturer Tudor S.A., where he rose to become Group Technical Director.
From 1987 to 1997 he was Managing Director of Endesa, and has also served as Vice
Chairman of Spanish electric utility Union Fenosa, Chairman of Sevillana de Electricidad
S.A. and Chairman of Elcogas.
