Secretariat Environmental Management System

The EURELECTRIC Secretariat takes an active responsibility in managing the environmental impact of its activities. The Secretariat has in place an environmental management system (EMS), which in the year 2000 was, as the first of its kind for an office activity in Belgium, and possibly in Europe, certified according to the international ISO 14001 standard.

Our EMS builds on our environmental policy statement which defines the broader outlines of our environmental commitment. Prior to installing the EMS, an initial review identified a list of environmental improvements related to the use of paper and various chemical products. Based on this, a detailed environmental programme has been established to help keep our environmental footprint at a minimum.
