A new record! On 3 and 4 June, Eurelectric welcomed no fewer than 750 registered participants – an all-time record – for an exciting programme around the promise of “Bringing power to life”.
The Summit focused on the central question: how do we get electrification to the next level, at a time when geopolitical uncertainties all point to electricity for Europe’s decarbonisation and energy security? With a stellar line up of speakers including European Commission Vice-President Teresa Ribera , Energy Commissioner Dan Jørgensen , Professors Jan Rosenow and Henry Farrell, the Summit was also the occasion for Vice-Presidents Catherine Fiamma MacGregor and Georgios Stassis to respectively unveil major new projects on industrial electrification (“Power Couples”) and AI (“The era of electric intelligence”).
The two days were opened by true thought-provoking talks between Eurelectric’s President Markus Rauramo and Finnish President Alexander Stubb discussing about balance shifting in geopolitics – and by the famous podcasters from “The rest is politics” Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell on the virtues and hurdles of the energy transition.

Flagship launches: industry and AI take centre-stage
Day 1 saw the launch of Power Couples.
The report highlights a reality that is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore – Europe already has the technologies needed to electrify industry. The challenge now is scale and speed.
With our partner Accenture, and following a vivid dialogue with customers led by Vice-President Catherine MacGregor, Eurelectric analysed what makes for a successful industrial electrification project or not.
And the conclusion is clear: what works is the coupling of sectors. Integrated industrial partnerships that jointly optimise demand, supply, infrastructure and flexibility needs are the recipe for success.
Just as in any good couple, the one element supports and enriches the other (😊): one load anchors long-term clean power, another shifts demand when prices spike, a third provides fast balancing, and all of them share infrastructure, risk and system value.
The total is a thriving relationship working through commercial structures such as long-term PPAs, Heat as a Service, Energy as a service, waste-heat offtake, flexibility revenues or blended public-private financing.
Day 2 saw the launch of a new project on AI: The era of electric intelligence.
Conducted with our partner EY, the project will explore how much power will be needed to feed AI (Power4AI) and how AI solutions will augment the power sector (AI4Power). The conclusions of this analysis will come in in late 2026 (Power4AI) and in 2027 (AI4Power).
Today, hyperscalers and expanding data centre demand are beginning to fundamentally reshape Europe’s electricity system after more than a decade of relatively stable demand growth.
As LLMs, cloud infrastructure and AI scale across Europe, the project will assess future data centre demand and flexibility needs, explore how the power system can support growth, and identify the policy and market conditions needed to accelerate investment.
The Era of electric intelligence will then also delve into how AI will help utilities optimise grid operations, forecasting and asset performance in a more complex and decentralised energy system.
The Power Summit was the occasion for utilities and hyperscalers to affirm their willingness to cooperate on this project and signed Twin Transition Commitments – a joint initiative to strengthen cooperation on the sustainable and efficient scaling of data centres and their integration into Europe’s electricity system.
So much more beyond the launches…
The Summit is much more than a series of speeches and launches. It is a fabulous networking arena with plenary and parallel sessions, business hub meetings, roundtables, B2B meetings, press interviews… The Summit was once again true to itself and was constantly buzzing with activity.
But what made the edition so special was the wealth of the programme and the two incredible talks discussing the pivotal role of energy, its sourcing and its prices above all, in defending our European values and way of live.
