9 October 2019

On 7 and 8 October, Eurelectric’s leadership participated in the International Electricity Summit, the global forum that examines the main issues and challenges faced by the sector. This year’s Summit, hosted by the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, concluded with a joint commitment to lead the clean energy transformation by decarbonising power generation and promoting electrification. The Summit statement was signed yesterday by Eurelectric, the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan, the Australian energy associations, the Canadian Electricity Association and the Edison Electric Institute (USA).

The International Electricity Summit (IES) brings together electricity industry CEOs from around the globe every 18 months. It addresses the major issues and challenges facing the sector in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill.

The next International Summit will take place in Norway in autumn 2021.
