World electricity leaders meet at the 25th International Electricity Summit 2018

Delegates from the Canadian Electricity Association, Energy Supply Association of Australia, Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan and Eurelectric will share their assessments of current international situations and future perspectives of the world electricity markets.

The European delegation led by Eurelectric’s Presidency team will report on how Europe translates its commitment to decarbonise into concrete actions in order to meet European and international objectives.

“Eurelectric is proud to present  to the delegates its Vision for the industry to lead and accelerate the energy transition and to decarbonise well before 2050,” said Kristian Ruby, Eurelectric Secretary General.

Summit deliberations are summed up in a closing joint statement in which leaders will reiterate the challenges, opportunities and solutions available for utilities at a global level.

The next International Summit takes place in Japan in September 2019.

Background:

The 2018 International Electricity Summit marks the 25th anniversary of the inaugural summit, held in Washington, D.C., in 1993. Approximately every eighteen months during that quarter-century, the IES has brought together electricity industry CEO’s from around the globe to examine the major issues and challenges facing the sector in the spirit of cooperation and goodwill. The event is closed-door and provides an opportunity for confidential interaction between the delegates.
