The St. Nikola Wind Farm is the backbone of the Integrated Early Warning System for Bird Protection, which complies with the European requirements for the preservation of wild birds. The integrated system minimises the risk of birds colliding with the rotating parts of wind turbines by shutting down single, groups of turbines or entire wind farms, and implements a monitoring programme during the risk periods of species of conservation importance.
