The Romanche-Gavet Plant – An Efficient Repowering

About the case study

Six former hydropower plants scattered along the Romanche river were replaced by a single, more powerful and productive underground power plant. This plant has increased renewable production by 40% and has allowed for 96 000 m² of natural free ground and 19 000 m² of water to be recovered. 260,000 km² have been restored with mostly local flora and another 570 000 m² will be put under management to foster biodiversity for fifteen years.
