Context
Operation and maintenance activities in solar parks require frequent inspections and interventions, which are traditionally manual, time‑consuming, and difficult to scale.
Challenge
Solar parks require frequent inspections and interventions, but O&M is often manual and difficult to scale; the challenge is to improve monitoring and responsiveness while reducing on‑site effort and operating costs.
AI Solution
ScaleUp O&M is a digital platform that manages maintenance operations in solar parks by collecting and analysing data from the park using drones and robots (mowers and cleaners). The platform enables autonomous and remote operation of assets, supports inspection scheduling, incident evaluation, and mission management to optimise O&M activities.
Impact & evidence
Impact is evidenced by user adoption rates, automation of operational activities that reduce costs, up to 80% lower cleaning and mowing costs, approximately 15% OPEX efficiency gains, and improved panel performance contributing to increased revenues.
Implementation / Adoption
Replicability is linked to integration with robotic assets (drones, mowers, cleaners), data collection from solar parks, and a digital platform to manage inspections, missions, and incident workflows.
Key levers highlighted include: autonomous inspection and maintenance missions; data‑driven incident detection and evaluation; remote operation of O&M assets; and centralised mission and incident management.
Data
The solution uses drone inspection data and robotic asset operational data generated through inspections and asset operation, alongside solar park operational information.
Future enhancements
There are plans to extend the solution to other solar parks in Spain (next one is Vanju Mare).
