E.ON Smart Control
E.ON Smart Control is a smart meter app (mME and iMSYS) enabling customers to better understand their energy consumption and pricing. The product delivers full transparency about overall consumption but also at the device level (e.g. What has my fridge consumed today?). For E.ON the product leads to positive customer engagement, for example by preventing cases of bill shock, subject to prior customer consent.
E.ON Smart Control is a product that was developed to deliver additional value to customers from smart meters. Instead of a regular smart meter that displays total consumption and money spent for electricity, E.ON smart control enables the customer to access smart meter functions, like individual monitoring of electric appliances. This way the customer can evaluate whether it might be time to replace an old appliance or unplug certain devices in stand-by mode to save electricity.
We already deliver detailed, disaggregated insights into the personal energy consumption of our customers. In addition, we allow adjusted monthly payments based on the consumed kWhs, this prevents ‘bill shock’ moments and enables better and more positive customer interaction. Additionally, customers will soon have the possibility to see their electric vehicle (EV)-energy consumption – as electric mobility plays a more and more important role.
Smart Control plays an important role in E.ON Germany’s consumer strategy as they transition towards prosumers, promoting active customer participation. This ambition will be underpinned by personalised energy tips. E.ON Smart Control is strongly related to our commodity offering and will be sold in a bundle for the mass market customers.
For E.ON, this product also has a positive impact on our NPS on operational costs (e.g. Cost to serve reduction) and our churn-rate.
We offer this product as a white label-version for other energy retailers (within E.ON, like enviaM) as well as for grid entities.
