- Enel Grids DERMS is the software that optimizes operation and supports network planning through the allocation of flexibility services from Distributed Energy Resources (DERs).
- The DERMS is designed to solve network congestion on the network that is loaded choosing the best technical and economical solution using all the configured and contracted resources regardless of the voltage level.
Approach & solution
- The DERMS, based on load forecast and network asset condition, identifies criticalities on the distribution network and, where required, sends signals to activate specific flexibility services previously contracted through market mechanisms (external Market Platform fully integrated in DERMS).
- Enel Grids DERMS is in piloting phase for Short Term Planning and Real Time Operations functionalities.
- DERMS operates completely autonomously, capturing network status, measurements and forecasts according to a schedule. The operator, experienced in network operation, can supervise the process and intervene to modify it.
- DERMS is very useful for managing current and power congestion and voltage violations that might occur during seasonal overloads or faults. Being therefore a grid management solution, DERMS will mostly be OPEX-based (i.e., cost of procuring and/or activating the services).
- Using DERMS over the long term enables optimization of investments and identification of critical areas by timely intervention without negative impacts on service quality.
