    Utilities today operate in an environment where severe weather events and wildfire exposure are an integral part of day‑to‑day system operations and planning.

    Challenge

    Utilities need to anticipate and manage severe weather and wildfire-related risks earlier, while coordinating multiple data sources, teams, and decisions across preparation, prevention, response, and recovery workflows.

    AI Solution

    The solution uses an agentic AI approach to support holistic major event management. It synthesizes operational, geospatial, weather, vegetation, and asset-related data to detect emerging risk, trigger AI-driven workflows, assess top threats, and generate decision support for actions such as inspection prioritization, crew preparation, mitigation planning, and emergency response coordination. Within Schneider Electric’s architecture, this is supported through the OneDigital Grid Platform and connected applications. Recommendations remain subject to human review before execution.​

    Impact & evidence

    The solution assists in early warning of weather- and wildfire-related risk, synthesis of disparate data sources into a common operational view, composite risk scoring, prioritization of vegetation and asset threats, AI-generated recommendations, and workflow support across preparation, mitigation, response, and recovery. The solution also helps scale decision support while keeping execution under human review.

    Implementation / Adoption

    Applicability of the solution requires access to data from weather service providers, supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems, geospatial data, and asset, outage, customer, distributed energy resource (DER), switching, generation, load, and network datasets.

    The implementation timeline depends on data readiness, integration scope, workflow maturity, and the broader digital environment in which the solution is deployed. Realisation typically ranges between 1-2 years.

    The solution also requires integration with enterprise, operational systems, and software components that support forecasting and flexibility workflows.
