EDP: Solar communities

A solar energy sharing community, with locally produced renewable energy that will benefit their members - Producers and Neighbours - with discounts on the electricity bill. It also fosters inclusiveness and protection for vulnerable consumers through Inclusive Solar Communities, allowing the community to share this energy with them.

The panels are installed in spaces provided by the Producers and the energy produced is distributed to all: producers and neighbours so everyone benefits from solar energy with discounts on the bill.

It is possible as a purely commercial solution or with this charitable component which for the moment is being deployed in both Portugal and Spain.

Inclusive Solar Communities are developed though funding from EDP Foundation or (co)investment by NGOs, municipalities, and other entities that want to contribute to the protection of such consumers.

This solution empowers customers with new products and electric solutions for the energy transition and decarbonisation. At the same time, it fosters an affordable and inclusive energy transition, as it supports a reduced electricity bill for all members, while allowing for co-investment with private parties in energy saving initiatives that help vulnerable consumers save costs and adopt sustainable energy solutions.
