Omatuuli, own a share of Wind power turbine production by Helen Ltd.

Helen is building a “Lakiakangas” wind power plant in Ostrobothnia, Finland, which will be in production in the beginning of 2022. Helen is offering customers the opportunity to buy a share of the wind power production of one wind turbine. Price of the share varies depending on market price and it will be 50-60 € per two years, 2 - 2,5 €/month. The estimated annual production of one share is about 310 kWh depending on weather conditions. We believe that empowering customers and new solutions is the most important way to embrace the new energy decade!

Wind power plays a major role as we move towards carbon neutrality. Helen's wind power production will grow significantly in the coming years, and in the long term the total amount will be as high as 4,000 gigawatt hours, almost all of Helsinki's electricity consumption! A significant step forward is the Lakiakangas 3 wind farm project.

One of the wind farm's 20 wind turbines has been chosen as a nominated wind turbine and with Omatuuli Helen is offering customers the opportunity to buy shares of its production.

“In Helen, we see that the inclusion of the customers is crucial when introducing renewable energy sources in daily life. In connection with the construction of solar power plants in Helsinki, we found that our customers are very interested in participating in the work against climate change.” thinks Tommi Göös, Product Group Manager of wind energy of Helen.

The start-up fee for Omatuuli is around 50-60€ and you get one share of the wind turbine production for your use for two years. The monthly price is then around 2 € per month and the nominal power of one share is 100 watts. The power produced by a wind turbine will vary with weather conditions but the estimated annual production of one section is about 310 kWh. One year of production thus corresponds to about 16% of a small apartment's annual electricity consumption.

“Helen seeks carbon neutrality by 2030 and sorts out renewable and recycled energy sources to modify our energy system in Helsinki and Finland. As a Helsinki-based energy company we actively seek new innovations that are based on the non-combustion technologies demanded by electrified society. We find customer empowerment is key to reach the new Energy decade”, says Göös.
“When selecting Omatuuli as a part of your electricity contract, the customer becomes a “wind power producer” and they know where part of their electricity comes from, from Ostrobothnia.
